Job Overview
Dairy farm in Lacombe is looking for an experienced full time person. We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team. This position involves a variety of tasks essential to the daily operations of our farm. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, mechanical knowledge, and a passion for agriculture.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors and skid steers.
- Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Feeding cows with a supreme feed wagon
- Bedding corrals and heifer barns with a bale shredder
- Bedding freestalls with a sawdust blower
- Cutting plastic back on silos
- Reporting any heifers in heat in breeding corral, checking heifers for health problems and treating them with medication
- Checking close up group during the day for calvings
Qualifications
- Familiarity with maintenance practices for both machinery and tools is beneficial.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely is required.
- Must be able to work every second weekend
- Must be able to work alone as well as with others
- Start time 7 AM , 8 - 10 hours a day
- A willingness to learn current skills related to farming practices is highly valued.
- Must be a Canadian resident- will not support LMIA applicants at this time
