Job Details: The Assistant Operations Manager contributes to Mattress Firm's success by assisting in the efficient day‑to‑day operations of multiple functions within their assigned distribution center, supervising members of the distribution center team, and contributing to meeting organizational financial objectives. This position ensures the team follows standardized operational processes in accordance with safety policies and procedures, and that the distribution center provides world class service to internal and external customers.

The Assistant Operations

Manager may also be involved in onboarding new team members. Ensure adherence to operational processes, policies, and procedures. Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives in the distribution center.

Facilitate resolution of customer service issues. Verify driver payroll for accuracy. Conduct required physical cycle counts, review discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections. Ensure use of proper safety equipment and maintain a secure working environment by ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures.





Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date. Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all. Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation.

Execute team member performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations when appropriate per Company policy. May be responsible for safety and other training and periodic retraining to all team members and contract employees in the DC. May monitor employee time records and review and approve paid time off and leave of absence requests in accordance to policy and procedures.

May manage the DC in the absence of the DC leader. May be involved in coaching conversations and administering disciplinary actions. May lead or participate in daily stand up meetings at the beginning of each shift or team meeting.

May take an active role in onboarding and training new DC team members. High School diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's Degree preferred Ability to motivate and empower individuals and groups to greater participation, commitment, and high standards of performance. Capable of building team spirit, encouraging team collaboration, identifying hidden strengths of individuals and team, encouraging all team members to express suggestions and ideas, and finding own creative solutions for upcoming problems.





Able to adapt to new situations, change and shift strategies to meet different types of challenges. Skillful in proper use of tools, hardware, software, and equipment to ensure optimal functioning. Ability to evaluate the impact of a business decision on the business financial statements and financial wellbeing in the long term.
