Drive sustainable recreation initiatives as a District Recreation Engagement Officer with the Ministry of Forestry and Parks in Hinton, Alberta. This full time, temporary role emphasizes education and community stewardship. You will play an important role in delivering public educational programs, managing seasonal staff, and connecting with various stakeholders.
Your duties will include site patrols, documentation of field data, and maintaining necessary signage. Through collaboration, your efforts will enhance responsible recreational use and support community events and partnerships. Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement education programs aligned with departmental goals
- Recruit and supervise seasonal officers for engagement initiatives
- Share knowledge on safety and regulations with the public
- Conduct site patrols to ensure compliance and safety
- Maintain communication tools like maps and signs for awareness Requirements:
- Two-year diploma in resource management or similar
- Minimum 3 years of relevant outdoor experience
- Class 5 Driver’s License required
- Knowledge of public land regulations beneficial
