This contract Electrical Engineer role is a hybrid position based in Torrance, CA, with a mix of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility.

The Electrical

Engineer will design, develop, and test electrical systems and circuits for marine robotics components, including power distribution and control electronics. Daily responsibilities include creating schematics, selecting components, performing simulations and calculations, and collaborating with mechanical and firmware engineers to ensure system-level integration. The role involves building and debugging prototypes, conducting bench and environmental testing, documenting designs and test results, and supporting design reviews and compliance checks.



The engineer will also help troubleshoot field issues, provide technical input for manufacturing and reliability improvements, and contribute to continuous refinement of engineering processes.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, including practical understanding of electricity and circuit behavior.
- Experience with Electrical Design, including schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration, and component selection.
- Knowledge of Power Systems and Power Distribution, such as DC power architectures, protection, and efficiency considerations.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to real-world hardware, including hands-on prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) and common diagnostic techniques.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document designs and test procedures clearly.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, collaborating in person and remotely with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with embedded systems, marine or robotic systems, or harsh-environment electronics is a plus.
