Math & English Teachers (K–8)
Basecamp is looking for caring, energetic, and reliable teachers to work with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 at our Oakville learning studio.
Basecamp is a personalized after-school learning program focused on helping children build stronger academic skills, become more confident learners, and develop skills that go beyond the classroom.
This is a part-time role that is ideal for university students, teacher candidates, recent graduates, educators, and experienced tutors who genuinely enjoy working with children.
What You’ll Do
- Guide students through personalized learning plans in Math and/or English
- Work with up to 3 students at a time, with each student completing work matched to their individual level
- Explain concepts clearly and adapt your approach based on how each child learns
- Help students build confidence, independence, and robust learning habits
- Review student work and provide meaningful feedback
- Record brief progress notes after sessions
- Build positive relationships with students and create an environment where they enjoy coming to learn
- Occasionally support Basecamp activities, games, projects, or Life Skills Workshops
What You Bring
- Completion of secondary school
- Strong Math and/or English skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Patience, warmth, and the ability to connect with children
- Reliability and professionalism
- Comfortable working with students across different skill levels
- Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check before beginning work
- Ability to work in person at our Oakville location
Nice to Have
- Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camp,
or childcare experience
- Currently enrolled in or graduated from an education-related program
- Experience working with elementary or middle-school students
- Experience supporting students with different learning needs
- Interest in areas such as communication, leadership, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, or other practical life skills
