We are seeking a motivated Production Engineer to join our Production Engineering team. In this role, you will design and improve the processes, tools, and methods that support the protected, efficient, and high-quality construction of complex shipbuilding projects. You will bridge engineering and production, ensuring designs can be effectively built in a collaborative shipbuilding environment.
Develop Manufacturing
Instructions (MIs) for installation sequences and specialized procedures. Design production tools, including jigs, fixtures, and templates. Review production drawings and vendor documentation for accuracy and constructability.
Plan and support engineering test activities for new products and processes. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and review deliverables. Collaborate with Production, Planning, Facilities, Engineering, Scheduling, and Supply Chain teams.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support risk mitigation activities. Bachelor of Engineering (B.3+ years of experience in shipbuilding, ship design, or heavy industrial manufacturing. ~ Experience with ship systems or production functions such as hull, mechanical/piping, electrical, or steel outfitting. ~ Strong understanding of shipbuilding production, planning, and materials. ~ Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and technical documentation. ~ Ability to interpret technical drawings and 3D models and solve complex engineering problems. Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does,
all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
