The Salal Foundation is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on transparency, citizen engagement, democracy, and communities living within natural limits. This is a temporary full-time role (12-18 months). The Finance & Accounting Coordinator provides support for the entire organization and its partners around finance, accounting, and related administration.

The Finance

Coordinator will be responsible for providing accurate, up-to-date financial information to help make informed decisions, meet our legal requirements and be accountable to funders and donors of the Salal Foundation and/or related organizations. This position reports to the Finance & Administrative Lead. Tracks income and expenses to project budgets Initiate and manage payments through online banking Run and maintain payroll and benefits programs Provide full-cycle bookkeeping services for several smaller nonprofits and charities Prepare financial, budget, and cash flow reports for the board and management Coordinate annual external audits Develop and articulate bookkeeping policies and procedures Support general administrative tasks, including maintaining a shared filing system Post secondary education in finance,



accounting or bookkeeping or related field Professional Bookkeeper or Accountant Certifications would be an asset Technical Skills Advanced knowledge and experience with accounting software (QuickBooks) Experience with payroll systems and government reporting Familiarity with multi-project charities/nonprofits is an asset Comfortable working in a remote, entrepreneurial/start-up setting the successful candidate will understand the importance of people dedicating their lives to reconciliation, diplomatism, and environmental protection within Canada, and will proactively strive to achieve these goals.
