Title: Floor Monitor

Reports to: General Manager HFA

Position Status: Part Time

Salary: $17.00 per hour

Position Summary

Reporting to the General Manager HFA, the Floor Monitor is responsible for daily leadership and support of health, fitness, and recreation programming. Along with maintaining YMCA Canada SAM standards and fitness safety.



The Floor Monitor is an integral component in ensuring front line delivery of quality health and wellness programming that enhances member achievement of whole life fitness goals in a positive, inclusive, safe, and values-based environment.

Schedule will include evenings and weekends.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Principle Responsibilities: Listed in order of importance

1. Foster a welcoming, positive workplace for members and participants by providing timely support, guidance, and information towards achievement of wellness-related goals. Establish strong working relationships and rapport with members, visitors, and participants and to enhance their Y experience.

2. Responsible for safety and security of members and participants, by ensuring that YMCA facility, group sessions, and

3. Equipment are maintained in keeping with safety requirements. Follow Association, industry, and occupational health and safety requirements in regard to safe work practices, safety reporting, routine inspections, cleanliness and monitoring of YMCA program and fitness facilities.

4. Maintain a high level of quality instruction by participating in ongoing development activities, workshops, and up to date

5. Industry trends. Identify opportunities to maximize member engagement and satisfaction with programming in support of Building Healthy Communities.

6. Ensure effective internal and external communications,



including timely response to program questions, requests for

7. Information, addressing member/participant concerns, interdepartmental sharing/collaboration. Providing support to Association promotions, events, and overall program delivery.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Previous experience would be considered an asset.

· Demonstrated ability to build relationships and further involve those individuals in the goals of the organization.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills including: tact, diplomacy, and ability to establish rapport with clients

· Strong attention to detail.

· Flexibility to work irregular hours required.

· Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training. Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Safeguarding Training.
