Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Sonographer role located in Lakeshore, ON. The Sonographer will perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, operating ultrasound equipment, acquiring and analyzing high-quality images, and documenting findings clearly for radiologists and referring providers.
The role involves maintaining equipment and exam rooms, adhering to infection prevention and safety guidelines, and ensuring accurate patient identification and recordkeeping. The Sonographer will also communicate exam procedures to patients, respond to questions with empathy, and contribute to a respectful, efficient clinical workflow.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program and current registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate provincial/territorial regulatory body.
- Proficiency in performing general ultrasound examinations (e.g., abdominal, pelvic, obstetrical, small parts), with robust image acquisition and optimization skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathology relevant to ultrasound imaging, and ability to recognize and document significant findings.
- Strong patient-care skills, including clear communication, professionalism, and a respectful, trauma-informed approach to diverse patient populations.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in an on-site clinical environment, including adherence to infection control, privacy, and safety regulations.
- Effective time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail for managing appointment schedules and accurate documentation.
- Comfort using clinical information systems, PACS, and electronic health records; willingness to learn new technologies and protocols.
- Ability to collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff, and to contribute positively to a team-based care setting.
- Availability to work full-time hours and flexibility to meet clinic scheduling needs; previous experience in a diagnostic imaging center is an asset.
