School – Wainwright, Alberta Assignment: High School Science including Science 9, Science 14 and Biology 20 Contract Type: Temporary Knowledge and understanding of the program of studies in science Training and/or experience in science would be considered an asset Experience in designing engaging learning opportunities for secondary students. A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate A student-centered philosophy committed to maximizing student learning in a safe and caring environment Experience and/or training in Assessment for Learning, including formative and summative assessment practices Proficiency with Google Workspace for Education and educational technology to support communication, collaboration, and student learning A demonstrated commitment to professional growth and reflective practice aligned with the Alberta Teaching Quality Standard A willingness to contribute to extracurricular opportunities and the broader school community would be considered an asset About School At Wainwright High School (Grades 7–12), we are proud to be an inclusive rural school community where students are known, supported, and inspired every day. Serving approximately 300 students,
our school offers the advantages of a close-knit community along with diverse opportunities for both students and staff.
We offer a strong academic program that meets a wide variety of student needs, along with a broad selection of option courses including fine arts, band, industrial arts, foods, leadership, and athletics. Students also have access to CTS, Dual Credit, and off-campus learning opportunities through partnerships with Lakeland College and Buffalo Trail Public Schools, helping them explore career pathways and prepare for life beyond high school. Extracurricular activities are an important part of school life at WHS.
Students can participate in athletics, clubs, student council and school events that build confidence, connection, and school spirit. Our staff are collaborative and supportive, and teachers have many opportunities to be involved in school life while building strong relationships with students and colleagues. The Town of Wainwright is a welcoming and vibrant community in east-central Alberta near the scenic Battle River Valley.
