About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Geothermal Energy Specialist to join their innovative team in Kimberley . This role will focus on the exploration, development, and management of geothermal resources for power generation and direct-use applications. You will contribute to identifying promising sites, conducting geological surveys, and overseeing the engineering and operational aspects of geothermal projects. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in geology, geophysics, or relevant engineering disciplines, coupled with experience in the geothermal energy sector , playing a key role in harnessing this sustainable resource in the Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct geological and geophysical surveys to identify and evaluate potential geothermal resources.
- Develop drilling plans and oversee drilling operations for exploration and production wells.
- Design and manage the implementation of geothermal power plants and direct-use systems.
- Monitor reservoir performance and implement strategies for sustainable resource management.
- Collaborate with engineering and construction partners throughout the project lifecycle.




- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices in geothermal resource development.

Requirements

- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science field, with a specialization in Geothermal Energy.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in the geothermal industry, including resource assessment and project development.
- Strong understanding of reservoir engineering, drilling technologies, and geothermal power plant design.
- Proficiency with geological modeling and resource assessment software.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex geological data.
- Experience with permitting and regulatory processes for energy projects is a plus.
