Role Description The Bean & Co. Head Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in Squamish (Brackendale), BC, responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations and ensuring high culinary standards. Day-to-day tasks include planning and executing menus, supervising food preparation and presentation, and maintaining quality, consistency, and portion control.

The Head

Chef manages ordering, inventory, and relationships with suppliers, while controlling food costs and minimizing waste. The role includes training, scheduling, and leading kitchen staff, enforcing health and safety regulations, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

The Head

Chef will collaborate with management to develop seasonal offerings, respond to guest feedback, and support special events or catering as needed.

Qualifications:

- Strong culinary skills, including menu planning, recipe development, and high-volume food preparation.
- Proven experience leading kitchen teams, with abilities in staff supervision, training, and performance management.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and compliance with local health regulations.




- Experience with inventory management, ordering, cost control, and waste reduction.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, maintain composure under pressure, and meet service deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with front-of-house and management teams.
- Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or equivalent leadership role in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Culinary diploma, certification, or equivalent practical experience; Red Seal or similar qualification is an asset.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.

Shifts:

- 5 days/week
- Weekend availability required

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead daily kitchen operations across café, bakery, and evening bistro service




- Develop and evolve seasonal menus that reflect both market availability and Bean + Co.'s identity
- Supervise, assign, and support all kitchen staff including cooks and prep team
- Maintain rigorous food safety and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen
- Collaborate with the Owners to ensure kitchen goals align with the broader business
- Set menu pricing and adjust offerings based on ingredient availability and cost targets
- Inspect ingredients and finished dishes to ensure consistent quality
- Manage monthly inventory and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor kitchen staff at all levels
- Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed
- Resolve service issues efficiently so guests always receive a great experience

Physical Requirements: This role involves extended periods of standing and moving throughout the kitchen, as well as bending, lifting, and carrying items up to 25 lbs. Candidates should be comfortable working in a warm, fast-paced environment across wide-ranging shift lengths.
