Salary range: $117,669 to $133,533 per year, 37.5 hours/week

As this may be a term position, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval. Reporting to the Manager, Nursing and Health Science Programs, the Instructor is responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of University, Diploma and other Health Science courses in the Nursing and Health Science Programs of Nunavut Arctic College. The successful candidate will ensure learners in the classroom and clinical setting are prepared to provide safe care to clients according to the standards of the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN).

Responsibilities

Other key responsibilities of the position include:

- Collaborating with the University partner, local agencies, and Government of Nunavut Departments, such as the Department of Health;





- Developing and delivering course content that is representative of University and College academic levels of instruction;

- Supervising learners in clinical practicums, including detailed formative and summative evaluations;

- Developing and maintaining goal-centered progress plans for learners; and

- Maintaining current knowledge in subject areas and in adult education, ensuring program/course relevancy by participating in professional activities and liaising with other instructors/institutions.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience including a minimum of one (1) year of classroom or clinical teaching experience. Experience working in rural or remote communities as a nurse is an asset.

The successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN) and obtain registration prior to the start date of employment; hold the current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification prior to the start date of employment; and meet the selection criteria for faculty adjunct appointment with the team-oriented Canadian University partner.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
