The Intermediate/Senior (I/S) Division Coordinator, Orillia Campus, under direct report to the Chair of Undergraduate Studies, coordinates all activities related to the conduct and outcomes of teaching placements, community education, and outreach for the Intermediate/Senior division in Undergraduate Studies in Education (USE) at the Orillia campus within the Faculty of Education. This position works in close collaboration with the full complement of Chairs, other Division Coordinators, the Placement Services Coordinator and the Faculty administration team to deliver unified and standardized programming across two campuses and multiple programs.

Responsibilities

- Develops, coordinates and implements, working in tandem with all other Division Coordinators and the Placement Services Coordinator, thorough and extensive practicum protocols, guidelines and policies for Faculty Advisors (FAs), Associate Teachers (ATs), and principals;
- Recruits, onboards, trains and supervises a team of I/S Faculty Advisors, overseeing their direct support of all Teacher Candidates (TCs) during placements, including regular school visits, advising meetings, devising coaching and support plans to ensure successful placement completion;
- Designs, organizes and facilitates a comprehensive PD seminar series for TCs, inviting in guest speakers from schools, board administration, community partner agencies, university supports, OCT, federation, and union groups;
- Alongside the Chair, counsels and advises Teacher Candidates (TCs), including individuals with additional challenges and placement needs;
- Liaises with Teachers, School Administrators, Principals, and Superintendents across all boards in Ontario in order to build and establish strong working relationships and partnerships with the Faculty of Education, helping to maintain our network of ATs and ensuring strong support for our Teacher Candidates before, during and after placements;




- Facilitates meetings with TCs and LU Student Accessibility Services to discuss, advise and approve, when necessary, any practicum-related accommodations, including working with the Placement Coordinator and/or the host school or board to ensure proper accommodations are requested and implemented.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Master's degree in Education or comparable field;
- Experienced teacher and/or administrator in the Intermediate/Senior division in an Ontario secondary school;
- Working knowledge of the Bachelor of Education programs at Lakehead University, and the OCT requirements for successful program completion;
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and professional networking skills;
- Effective organizational, time management, planning, creative thinking, conflict management, problem-solving, mentoring, and public speaking skills;
- Proficient in Google Workspace and social media platforms.
