Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician specializing in Water Treatment Plant Controls to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning electrical systems and control equipment within water treatment facilities in Alberta. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient installation, commissioning and operation of complex electrical controls, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMI, SCADA system and UPS.

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to accurately install and commission electrical systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, commission and maintain control panels, wiring, motors, sensors, and other electrical components in water treatment plants.
- Install and commission PLC system, IO modules, HMI and SCADA systems.
- Programming of PLC logic, HMI graphics, SCADA system and integration of the entire system to enable a fully operational system for the plant.
- Install and commission alarm dialer and integrate with existing PLC/HMI/SCADA system.
- Integrate remote access system to enable remote operation for the site PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
- Installation and commissioning of analyzer for Chlorine analysis.
- Removal and installation of actuators/valves for the water treatment plant.
- Support commissioning activities, including testing of inputs/outputs,



functionality of the overall system and commissioning records.
- Collaborate with construction teams during plant expansions or modifications to ensure electrical compliance and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

- Valid journeyman electrician license or certification with proven experience in industrial electrical work.
- Hands-on experience with industrial control systems hardware, specifically Allen Bradley system.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical diagrams related to electrical systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment for installation and commissioning purposes.
- Experience working with low voltage systems, UPS installation, PLC programming basics, and control panel wiring.
- Experience with programming logic, HMI and SCADA modifications for Allen Bradley systems, including integration of PLC/HMI/SCADA/alarm dialer systems.
- Experience with installation and commissioning of UPS system.
- Strong focus on following safety protocols diligently while working on electrical and controls systems at an industrial facility.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong communication skills.
