Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your legal expertise while supporting various aspects of our legal operations. As a Junior Lawyer, you will assist senior attorneys with research, drafting, negotiation, and legal documentation, contributing to the smooth functioning of our legal processes.

This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career legal professionals eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment that values growth, collaboration, and integrity.

Responsibilities

- Overseeing all aspects of family law files from intake to resolution or adjudication.
- Make court appearances
- Maintaining accurate records of client files (both physical and electronic) and billable hours.
- Responsible for conducting consultations with clients.
- Attending court hearings and mediations as required.
- Negotiating and drafting settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
- Collaborating with colleagues at the firm and providing support and assistance on other files in the firm as needed.
- Building practice and bringing in more clients to the firm by networking and building and maintaining relationships with clients and other professionals in the legal community.
- Reviewing and assessing all assets and liabilities for settlement and/or litigation.
- Reviewing expenses and income for use in settlement and/or litigation.
- Responsible for drafting settlement proposals and negotiating settlement.
- Responsible for real estate conveyancing as required.
- Demonstrating the ability to manage and support clients who are the subject of parenting disputes, domestic violence and other forms of abuse and providing guidance and/or litigating Emergency Protection Orders and Restraining Orders as required.
- Communicating professionally in all oral and written correspondence with clients, other legal counsel and the court.
- Attending questioning (for discovery and on affidavit), chambers,



trials, appeals and other court proceedings as required.
- Attending and facilitating alternative dispute resolution processes including settlement meetings, mediations, case conferences, other forms of negotiation and arbitrations as required.
- Drafting various court and legal documents related to conferences, motions, trials, appeals, mediations and/or arbitrations, and domestic agreements.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case preparation and legal analysis
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and memoranda with precision and clarity
- Assist in negotiations by preparing relevant documentation and summarizing key points for review
- Support senior lawyers in managing case files, tracking deadlines, and maintaining organized records
- Participate in meetings with clients or external stakeholders to gather information and clarify legal requirements
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance across all activities
- A law degree from an accredited institution; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis or similar legal research platforms
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured documents
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and synthesize findings effectively
- Basic understanding of negotiation techniques and legal drafting principles
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Eagerness to learn, collaborate with team members, and develop qualified skills in a supportive environment
