Lead Hand/Material Expeditor

Novatek Welding/Fabrication is a well-established premium Welding and Fabrication company located in Cambridge Ontario. Our capabilities include Machining, Welding, Laser Cutting, Custom Forming and Laser Etching.

The Role:

Currently we have an opening for a unique individual to complement our team as a full-time permanent Lead Hand/Material Expeditor. The ideal candidate will be multi-talented, organized, motivated and methodical individual with the desire to succeed.

This position is unique in that it is a key hands-on front line leadership position, where a large majority of time is spent on the shop floor, with accountability for ensuring on time movement of materials and components through each process to ensure the production schedule is met and we deliver to customers on time. This role reports directly to the Production & Process Champion/Supervisor and has interaction/coordination with several functional departments including QA, Sales, Purchasing/Administration, Engineering and Ownership.

- Own and manage work in progress and coordinate with and or report to Supervision/Leadership to;
- Arrange/maintain shop production schedule
- Co-ordinate workflow and employees
- Including moving materials from operation to operation efficiently and employees within various areas as needed.
- Maintain delivery date and schedules – (with a sense of urgency and ownership)
- Establish priorities and resolve issues pertaining to efficiency
- Demonstrate leadership by assisting shop employees in their various tasks.



A background in metal fabrication roles (with an emphasis on CNC forming/bending is preferred.)
- Work order verification and analysis
- Maintain all policies and procedures
- Exemplary attendance (shows up day in and day out and leads by example)
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently
- Effective planning, problem solving, and communication skills
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
- Can operate forklifts, cranes and various fabrication equipment as may be needed.
- Basic computer skills
- Able to read drawings
- 3 years experience as a lead hand or supervisor in a welding/fabrication environment

Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
