About NetFusion Designs
NetFusion Designs (NFD) is a SOC 2 Type II certified Managed Intelligence Provider (MIP) headquartered in Kitchener–Waterloo, with offices in Toronto, Markham, Mississauga, Montréal, and Winnipeg. We support 70+ clients across Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba, blending traditional managed IT with modern AI-driven automation and security engineering. Our team is small, technical, and directly accountable — the people who design our clients' environments are the same people who build and support them.
About the Role The Lead Infrastructure Engineer is the person who takes a signed Statement of Work and delivers it, end to end. That means scoping the technical design, coordinating procurement, staging equipment in our lab, driving to the client site to rack and cable, running the cutover, documenting the workplace, and handing it off cleanly to service delivery.
You'll report directly to the Partner & President and work alongside our service delivery, security, and automation teams. This is a hands-on project engineering role — not a design-only architect role and not a helpdesk-lead role. If you enjoy owning a project from whiteboard to production, and you get satisfaction from a clean rack and a well-documented cutover, this is built for you.
What You'll Do
- Own client infrastructure projects end to end: discovery, design, BOM, procurement coordination, staging, onsite install, cutover, documentation, and handoff
- Design and build Windows Server, Hyper-V (including clustering and SET teaming), Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange/M365, file services, and print — greenfield builds and migrations of existing environments
- Configure and deploy Meraki (MX, MS, MR) and UniFi networks — firewall replacements, site-to-site VPN, SD-WAN cutovers, VLAN design, wireless surveys, and structured cabling coordination
- Rack, cable, patch, label,
and physically install servers, switches, firewalls, and access points at client sites across Southern Ontario, with occasional travel to Montréal and Winnipeg
- Produce and maintain runbooks, network diagrams, and IT Glue documentation for every project you deliver
- Act as senior technical point of contact with clients during migrations and go-lives
What You Bring
- 6+ years of hands-on infrastructure engineering experience, with a track record of leading (not assisting on) full end-to-end migrations and greenfield builds
- Deep working knowledge of Windows Server, Hyper-V, Active Directory, Entra ID / Entra Connect, and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune)
- Solid networking fundamentals: routing, switching, VLANs, firewall policy, VPN, and wireless design — comfortable configuring Meraki/FortiGate and/or UniFi from the ground up
- Willingness and ability to work onsite at client locations for installs, cutovers, and go-lives, including occasional evenings, weekends, and travel
- Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Strong written and verbal communication — you can lead a client status call and write a runbook another engineer can execute without asking you a question
- Legally eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
Nice to Have
- MSP or IT consultancy background
- Experience with ConnectWise Asio, IT Glue, ScreenConnect, SentinelOne
- Backup and DR platforms (Veeam, Datto, Cove, Azure Backup)
- Certifications: MS-102, AZ-104, AZ-800/801, CCNA, or Meraki CMNA
- Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Bilingual English/French
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Group health, dental, and vision benefits
- Hybrid work model with meaningful onsite and client travel
- Direct reporting line to the Partner & President — visibility, ownership, and a real seat at the table
