Quality Assurance Associate ob Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Associate to join our precision machine shop team. In this role, you will ensure all machined parts, assemblies, and materials meet strict customer specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. You will perform dimensional inspections, maintain quality documentation, and collaborate closely with machinists and production teams to prevent defects and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Dimensional Inspection: Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts using standard precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, height gauges, optical comparators).
- Blue Print Reading: Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) specifications.
- CMM Operation: Set up and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect complex geometries (programming experience is a plus).
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify, document, and segregate defective materials or parts. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and assist in root-cause analysis.
- Documentation & Records: Maintain accurate inspection logs,



material test reports (MTRs), Certificates of Conformance (CoC), and calibration records.
- Gage Calibration: Assist in the routine calibration and tracking of shop precision measurement tools to ensure accuracy.
- Process Auditing: Conduct floor audits to verify that machinists are following quality procedures and setup sheets.

Qualifications and Skills

- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of quality inspection experience specifically within a CNC machining or manufacturing setting .
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T; principles .
- Tool Proficiency: Hands-on experience with traditional manual inspection equipment. Experience with CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) is highly desirable.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 is preferred.
- Attitude: High attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with production staff.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods on the production floor.
