We are seeking a skilled Machinist (Journeyman or Apprentice) to join our manufacturing team in Edmonton, Canada.

In this role, you will operate and maintain precision machinery to produce high-quality components according to detailed specifications. Whether you are a journeyman looking to advance your career or an apprentice eager to develop your technical expertise, we offer an environment where precision, safety, and continuous improvement are paramount. Operate CNC and manual machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, and related equipment) to manufacture precision components Read and interpret technical blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate production Set up machines, select appropriate cutting tools, and adjust speeds and feeds to optimize production efficiency Document production activities, material usage, and quality control results accurately Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality standards Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.



Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Prepare samples according to CSA, ASTM and ASME standards & customer requirements. Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.

Valid Journeyman

Machinist certification (for Journeyman level) or active apprenticeship registration with Alberta (for Apprentice level) Proficiency in operating CNC and manual machine tools Solid ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings Competency with precision measurement tools and quality control instruments Knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and material properties Familiarity with CAD software and digital machining programs (preferred) Problem-solving skills and analytical mindset to troubleshoot technical issues Physical capability to perform machining duties, including standing for extended periods and lifting materials SGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and Indigenous status, or any other characteristics protected by law.
