Food Services Officer (On-Call) - Monteith Correctional Complex

Key Duties

- Prepare and serve meals for approximately 220 inmates and staff

- Maintain kitchen safety, security, and sanitation standards

- Monitor food temperatures and kitchen equipment

- Manage food inventory and supplies

- Provide direction to inmate kitchen helpers

Requirements

- Journeyman Chef Certificate or significant volume cooking experience





- First Aid and Heartsaver certification (or ability to obtain)

- Experience with large-scale food preparation, special diets, food safety, and kitchen operations

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations (WHMIS, OHSA, etc.)

- Robust communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

- On-call position with 0 to 40 hours per week and no guaranteed hours

- Includes working with inmate helpers

- Security screening required (Vulnerable Sector Check, police records checks, credit history check)
