Responsibilities
- Develop and write detailed CNC programs for multi-axis milling and turning machines using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
- Set up CNC machines, including loading tools, fixtures, and raw materials, ensuring all specifications are met for each job.
- Operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with precision, adhering to safety standards and quality requirements.
- Read blueprints and technical drawings accurately to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and machining instructions.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions during production.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency in machining processes.
- Assist in assembly or welding tasks when necessary to support production goals.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, inspections, and production logs for quality control purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience programming and operating multi-axis CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with Mazatrol and Fanuc controls is highly preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and materials.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Familiarity with CAD software like SolidWorks or other CAD/CAM platforms for program development.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances essential for precise machining.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement devices confidently.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to machine operation; certification in forklift operation is a plus.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Willingness to learn new skills such as welding or assembly tasks as needed to support production flexibility.
