Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Current Britain screw machine operator to set up, operate, and maintain multi-spindle screw machines for high-volume production of precision metal parts. The ideal candidate can work independently, read prints, hold tight tolerances, and maintain consistent quality and output.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor New Britain multi-spindle screw machines
- Load bar stock and adjust feeds, speeds, cams, and tooling
- Read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and specifications
- Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
- Make tooling offsets and adjustments to maintain tolerances
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean
- Meet production targets while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Work with supervisors and quality team to resolve non-conformances
Requirements
- Proven experience operating New Britain screw machines
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials
- Ability to read blueprints and hold close tolerances
- Experience with measuring and inspection tools
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Setup experience (not just operator)
- Experience with high-volume production environments
- Secondary operations experience (drilling, tapping, deburring)
- Basic maintenance or tooling change experience
Work Conditions
- Shop/manufacturing environment
- Standing for extended periods
- Handling metal parts and tooling
- PPE required
