TITLE: Associate Optometrist — Ownership Pathway Available (Forest Hill Village, Toronto)

Forest Hill Optical is an independent eyewear store with a full optometry clinic built in, at 398 Spadina Road in Forest Hill Village. We are hiring an associate optometrist, and we are open about why the role is unusual: we build practices for optometrists who eventually want to own one.

About the practice

Street level retail in one of Toronto's most established neighbourhoods. The optical store brings people through the door every day, and the clinic sits inside it. Our current optometrist previously practised on the third floor of an office tower. Her patient volume changed substantially after moving into this space, without any additional marketing on her part.

We carry twelve independent designer frame lines including DITA, Tom Ford, Thierry Lasry and Loewe. Appointment-based practice, unhurried, with time for proper exams.

The role

Comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fitting, and ocular health assessment. Full autonomy over clinical decisions. Modern equipment and an experienced optician handling all dispensing.

Compensation is competitive and structured around a base plus percentage. We will discuss specifics openly at first conversation.

The ownership pathway

This is the part that makes us different.



We are opening additional locations and we want the optometrists who work with us to own them. That can mean owning the clinic, or owning both the clinic and the optical store alongside it.

We help with the parts that usually stop people. We find and negotiate the lease. We work with the major banks on financing, because we know new graduates often carry debt. We provide training on the retail side, or help you hire a strong optician if you would rather focus on clinical work. You can operate under our brand or your own.

There is no obligation attached to the associate role. If you want to stay an associate, that is a good outcome for us too.

Who we are looking for

Licensed and in valuable standing with the College of Optometrists of Ontario, or eligible for registration. Any level of experience considered. Comfortable in an appointment-based, service-led setting. Interested in the business side of optometry, or curious about it.
