Join GWEKWAADZIWIN as an Outdoor Treatment Counsellor, a full time role designed for those passionate about Anishinabek culture and holistic treatment. Deliver a unique experiential program while working closely with participants. This position merges outdoor leadership with mental health treatment, requiring collaboration with the Land Based Team Leader.
As you implement a wholistic treatment approach, you will guide learning in a wilderness environment while focusing on safety and cultural significance.
Your role includes the development of individual treatment plans and support for participants transitioning into community aftercare. Key Responsibilities:
- Direct outdoor experiential learning initiatives
- Maintain group safety and teach relevant wilderness skills
- Develop and implement client-centered treatment plans
- Support participant transitions into aftercare programs
- Engage in program evaluation and research activities Requirements:
- Diploma in human services or related field
- Training in mental health and addictions
- Experience in wilderness settings with vulnerable populations
- Valid Ontario ‘G’ driver’s license
