Outside Sales Representative – Lumber & Building Materials

Location: Headingley, Manitoba

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent The Opportunity Our client is an established Manitoba manufacturer of roof and floor truss systems serving residential, multifamily, commercial and agricultural construction projects.

They are looking for an experienced Outside Sales Representative to grow their customer base across Manitoba and surrounding markets. This is a true relationship-driven sales role focused on selling lumber, building materials, roof trusses and floor systems to builders, contractors, developers and construction professionals.

The ideal candidate understands the lumber and building materials industry, knows how to build long-term contractor relationships and is comfortable developing new business while growing existing accounts.

What You’ll Do

- Develop and grow sales of lumber, building materials, roof trusses and floor systems
- Manage and expand an existing portfolio of contractor and builder accounts
- Prospect for new business with builders, contractors, developers and construction companies
- Spend significant time in the field visiting customers, jobsites and prospective accounts
- Build strong relationships and become a trusted resource for customers
- Prepare quotes, pricing and material packages based on customer requirements
- Work with customers to understand upcoming projects, timelines and material needs
- Coordinate with estimating and design teams on truss, floor and building material packages
- Follow projects from initial opportunity and quotation through order and delivery
- Negotiate pricing while maintaining healthy margins and profitable business
- Stay current on lumber commodity pricing, market conditions and product availability
- Work closely with purchasing and operations to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply
- Identify opportunities to increase share of wallet across lumber,



components and related building materials
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently follow up on quotes and opportunities
- Provide market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing and customer demand

What You Bring
- Proven outside sales experience in lumber, building materials or construction products
- Strong knowledge of dimensional lumber and general building materials
- Existing relationships with builders, contractors or developers in Manitoba would be a strong asset
- Experience selling roof trusses, engineered wood products, floor systems or structural building components is highly desirable
- A solid understanding of residential and light commercial construction
- Ability to read plans, understand material requirements and work with estimating/design teams
- Strong prospecting and business development skills
- Comfortable discussing lumber pricing, market changes, margins and product availability with customers
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing a territory independently
- Ability to balance new business development with ongoing account management
- Strong communication, organization and follow-through
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel throughout the territory
