WHO WE ARE

We are a specialty micro bakery and cafe located in the heart of Kits committed to providing our customers with freshly made, health oriented baked goods made with the highest quality ingredients. We believe that everyone deserves to experience having delicious baked goods in a wonderful setting along side the best tasting coffee this side of town.

This position requires some kitchen prep tasks in addition to barista duties, including sifting dry mixes, making muffin batter prep, cookie dough, scooping cookies, making frostings and icing cakes and any support to the bakers.

Latte art skills and the ability to steam perfect micro-foam is a must. We are looking for enthusiastic front-of-house baristas to join our team. The position requires relevant experience working on an espresso machine, including being able to expertly steam milk to create micro-foam and latte art.

As a barista, you will be working in a small space alongside other baristas, bakers and front-of-house staff. It is important that you are able to maintain excellent levels of quality and cleanliness. Cleaning is a big part of this job and when there are no customers to serve, it will be necessary to perform other tasks such as wash and put away dishes, wipe down appliances, tidy the coffee station area, clear tables, sweep and mop floors and always maintain a clean environment.

This position includes closing shifts as well. You must be okay with cleaning being a large part of your responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

- At least 1 year of proven experience serving espresso based drinks.
- Ability to serve multiple coffee and tea orders at the same time while maintaining the highest quality standards is required.




- Attention to detail and the ability to stay focused while maintaining a positive attitude in a high-paced, busy environment is a must.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain a high level of professionalism while providing top customer service.
- An outgoing, friendly and respectful attitude towards customers and other staff is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English or native speaker.
- A passion for coffee is a plus.

What you'll work on:

- Welcome customers walking in, take orders and operate a point of sale
- Serve baked goods and breads to customers
- Prepare coffee on an espresso machine: pour shots and froth milk carefully
- Prepare tea and tea lattes
- Explain beverages and food items to customers
- Quality control of espresso and grinder throughout the day
- Prepare sandwiches and other quick prepared food tasks
- Clean espresso machine at the end of the day
- Training new staff as needed
- Stamp bags and refill tea, coffee and any items necessary
- Accept and store deliveries
- Refill pastry cases carefully and keep them clean
- Wash and put away any dishes as needed throughout the day
- Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, washing hands frequently
- Monitor inventory and supply levels
- Note items that are low in stock
- Ability to lift up to 20kg
- Sweep and mop floors
- Clean sinks, countertops, glass displays and appliances (fridges, ovens, etc)
- Clean bathroom,



windows and other cleaning tasks
- Sort and take out recycling, take out garbage and compost
- Deep cleaning shifts may be scheduled on occasion

DETAILS

Current shift offering is approximately 4 shifts at 22-24 hours per week including weekends. Some shifts will be closing.

Base wage is from $18.50 with pooled gratuities that are consistently $3 per hour. Wage is negotiable based on experience and barista skills.

Pay: $18.50-$21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 22.0 – 24.0 per week
