Position Overview

Canadian Health Providers Clinic is seeking a psychiatrist to join our new clinic.

The psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and ongoing clinical care for patients presenting with mental health and psychiatric concerns. The position will involve working with patients from a variety of referral sources, including individuals involved in motor vehicle accidents and rehabilitation programs.

Key Responsibilities (Psychiatric Assessment)

- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
- Obtain detailed psychiatric, medical, psychosocial, and functional histories.
- Assess patients for mood, anxiety, trauma-related, psychotic, behavioural, and other psychiatric disorders.
- Formulate differential diagnoses and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Conduct risk assessments, including assessment of suicide/self-harm risk where clinically indicated.
- Provide psychiatric opinions regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment needs, and functional limitations.

OCF-18 & MVA Responsibilities

- Complete and/or contribute to OCF-18 Treatment and Assessment Plans where applicable and within scope.
- Provide clinical rationale for proposed psychiatric treatment and services.
- Assess the psychological and psychiatric impact of motor vehicle accidents and traumatic events.
- Provide recommendations regarding psychiatric treatment, medication, follow-up, and rehabilitation needs.




- Prepare clinical reports and documentation required for accident-benefit claims.
- Communicate with insurers, adjusters, legal representatives, referring physicians, and other stakeholders when appropriate and authorized.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date psychiatric records.
- Prepare psychiatric assessment reports, consultation notes, progress reports, treatment summaries, and discharge documentation.

Qualifications

- MD or equivalent medical degree.
- Licensed and in valuable standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) or applicable provincial regulatory body.
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Psychiatry, or equivalent recognized qualifications.
- Eligible to independently practice psychiatry in Ontario.
- Experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management.
- Strong clinical judgment and risk-assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Experience with MVA patients, OCF-18s, PTSD, trauma, chronic pain, or insurance/rehabilitation medicine is considered an asset.
