Position Overview
TAC Sports is seeking a Public Speaking & Leadership Camp Instructor to lead an engaging and interactive camp program focused on communication, confidence, leadership, and personal development. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is passionate about helping young people build confidence, and can create a fun, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.
This week-long program introduces campers to the fundamentals of effective communication and leadership through interactive lessons, public speaking activities, teamwork challenges, presentations, and creative exercises. Throughout the week, campers will develop their ability to communicate ideas clearly, work with others, think critically, and confidently present in front of an audience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead camp sessions in a safe, engaging,
and age-appropriate environment
Teach campers fundamental public speaking and communication skills, including voice projection, body language, organization, and presentation techniques
Help campers build confidence when speaking and presenting in front of their peers
Introduce leadership concepts such as teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, responsibility, and collaboration
Facilitate interactive activities including presentations, group discussions, debates, role-playing, and leadership challenges
Guide campers in developing and delivering individual and group presentations
Provide constructive feedback to help campers improve their communication and presentation skills
Encourage campers to express their ideas, opinions, and creativity in a respectful and supportive environment
Foster confidence, critical thinking, active listening, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
Create an inclusive environment where campers feel comfortable participating and taking on leadership roles
Supervise campers throughout activities, transitions, and breaks to ensure safety and positive behaviour
Assist with daily camp setup, cleanup, material preparation, and activity organization
Build positive relationships with campers, families, and TAC Sports staff
Follow TAC Sports’ program plans, safety procedures, and child supervision standards at all times
Qualifications
Experience working with children in camps, education, recreation, tutoring, coaching, or youth programs
Strong public speaking, communication, and leadership skills
Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of groups
Energetic, confident, patient, and enthusiastic when working with children
Ability to make public speaking and leadership concepts fun, practical, and accessible for children
Strong teamwork, organization, and group management skills
Ability to encourage and motivate children with different personalities, confidence levels, and learning styles
Background in education, communications, leadership, business, theatre, recreation, or a related field is an asset
First Aid/CPR certification and Vulnerable Sector Check, or willingness to obtain them, preferred
