SUMU is a modern Asian dining destination in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, bringing together premium sushi, yakitori, Japanese small plates, signature nabe, and an interactive dining experience.

As SUMU continues to grow, we are building a strong Restaurant Management Team and are looking for experienced hospitality professionals who are ready to take ownership, lead from the floor, and help shape the way our restaurant operates.

We are hiring for Manager and Supervisor-level positions, with the final position determined based on experience, leadership ability, and overall fit.

What You Will Do

- Lead daily restaurant operations and ensure smooth, efficient service
- Be present on the floor and actively lead the team during busy service periods
- Train, coach, and motivate servers and other FOH team members
- Maintain high standards of hospitality, service, cleanliness, and restaurant presentation
- Work closely with Kitchen, Sushi, Bar, and management teams to ensure seamless operations
- Monitor guest experience and handle service issues and guest concerns professionally
- Support staff scheduling, attendance, team assignments, and daily floor operations
- Help maintain and improve restaurant SOPs and service standards
- Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members
- Monitor workflow, team performance, and overall service efficiency
- Assist with opening and closing procedures and daily operational tasks
- Contribute ideas and solutions to continuously improve the restaurant

What We Are Looking For We are looking for hands-on hospitality leaders, not just people with a management title.

You may be a strong candidate if you are:

- An experienced Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager,



Supervisor, or Senior Server
- Confident leading a team in a busy restaurant environment
- Strong in communication, organization, and problem-solving
- Comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility during service
- Passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences
- Able to lead by example and stay calm under pressure
- Someone who notices details and takes pride in restaurant standards
- Interested in growing with a restaurant rather than simply working a shift

Previous experience in Japanese, Asian, sushi, izakaya, or upscale casual dining is an asset. The Right Level for You

Manager-level candidates will take greater responsibility for overall restaurant operations, team development, labor management, service standards, and operational improvement.

Supervisor-level candidates will focus on floor leadership, shift execution, team support, guest experience, and assisting management with daily operations.

We are open to different levels of experience. We care more about your leadership ability, attitude, hospitality mindset, and willingness to take ownership than your previous job title.
