Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team for a 15-month contract. The role will require working in office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

- Complete the full month-end accounting cycle, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and management reporting packages.
- Analyze transaction activity, settlements, and financial variances, identifying and resolving discrepancies as required.
- Provide financial analysis, reporting, and ad hoc support to business stakeholders.
- Liaise with the internal and external audit teams to ensure timely and accurate audits
- Maintain audit-ready working papers and support internal and external audit processes.
- Interpret and apply accounting standards, corporate policies, and internal controls to business transactions.
- Collaborate with FP&A; on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Prepare regulatory and government filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established deadlines.
- Support process improvements, special projects, and other duties consistent with the scope of the role.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- CPA designation or other internationally recognized professional accounting designation is required
- 5+ years of experience in accounting with at least 2 years of industry experience.
- Strong proficiency in excel
- Experience with Oracle is considered an asset but not required
- Industry experience in the energy retail sector is an asset but not required
