Senior Accountant | Contract | Mississauga, ON

We are hiring a Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity with a well-established financial services organization in Mississauga.

This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys digging into the numbers, questioning inconsistencies, improving processes, and communicating financial insights clearly to senior stakeholders.

What you’ll be responsible for:

- Supporting month-end close activities within tight reporting deadlines
- Preparing and posting journal entries
- Completing account reconciliations and reviewing activity against the general ledger
- Performing variance analysis and explaining key fluctuations
- Supporting revenue-related accounts and complex accounting analysis, including provisions
- Preparing supporting schedules and working papers
- Understanding how accounting activity flows through the financial statements
- Supporting ad hoc accounting and finance projects
- Identifying opportunities to automate and improve existing processes

What we’re looking for:





- CPA designation preferred; equivalent international accounting designations will also be considered
- Robust hands-on month-end close and financial accounting experience
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to communicate findings clearly and confidently
- Proactive, curious, and comfortable questioning results when something does not make sense
- Financial services, banking, lending, or similar industry experience is an asset

This is a contract position , with the possibility of a longer-term opportunity for the right candidate, although conversion is not guaranteed. ? Location: Mississauga, Ontario
