Senior Accountant

Salary: $60,000-70,000

Our client: A growing multi-entity organization based in the Niagara Region, Ontario.

Principal tasks and responsibilities include:

- Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and reconcile trial balances, general ledger accounts and balance sheet schedules.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals and adjusting entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Perform financial statement and variance analysis, including month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reporting.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports and reconcile applicable sub-ledgers.
- Complete intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Assist with tax remittances, regulatory requirements and annual audit activities.
- Communicate professionally with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Support and mentor junior accounting team members as required.
- Assist with the development and improvement of accounting procedures and processes.
- Support automation and technology initiatives aimed at improving efficiency within the accounting function.
- Complete special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as required.

Qualifications and pre-requisites:

- Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce,



Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience.
- Robust understanding of financial statements, trial balances, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Experience performing financial analysis and variance reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Comfortable working with technology and process improvement initiatives.
- CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
- Experience within a multi-entity environment is considered an asset.
- Previous industry-specific accounting or financial reporting experience is considered an asset.
