Role Description The Senior Data Scientist will play a key role in designing and executing data-driven initiatives that support MLSA Women Tech Hub’s mission and programs. This part time remote role involves collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data related to community engagement, events, and learning outcomes.

The Senior Data

Scientist will build and validate predictive models, develop dashboards and reports, and translate complex insights into actionable recommendations for organizers and stakeholders. They will collaborate with student leaders and technical teams to define metrics, implement experiments, and improve decision-making processes across the hub. The role also includes mentoring community members on data science best practices, contributing to learning resources, and supporting data-related activities for workshops and events.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in data analysis and statistical modeling, including experience with hypothesis testing, regression, and exploratory data analysis.
- Candidates should possess solid programming skills in languages commonly used for data science (such as Python or R)



and be comfortable working with data manipulation libraries and tools.
- Candidates should possess experience with machine learning techniques and frameworks, including building, evaluating, and deploying predictive models.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in working with databases and data pipelines, including SQL and basic data engineering concepts.
- Candidates should possess skills in data visualization and reporting, using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to present insights clearly.
- Candidates should possess strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences and work effectively in diverse, remote teams.
- Candidates should ideally have prior experience in community-focused, educational, or non-profit initiatives, and a demonstrated interest in diversity, inclusion, and gender equity in tech.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) is highly beneficial.
