Senior Electrical Engineer – Transmission & Substation Design

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for the design and delivery of electric utility transmission substations. This role focuses on developing cutting-edge and reliable electrical design solutions supporting substations operating from 12kV through 500kV in a complex utility environment.

Responsibilities

- Lead electrical design activities for substation projects, analyze complex engineering challenges, and develop practical solutions that align with industry standards and operational requirements.
- Prepare technical specifications, review design documentation produced by internal teams and external consultants, and support procurement and construction activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and Engineers-in-Training while ensuring engineering work meets technical, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, structural,



and protection & control engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the full project lifecycle—from early engineering studies and equipment specification through construction support, testing, and commissioning.

Qualifications

- Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in transmission substation engineering within a utility or consulting environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Expertise in major substation equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, reactors, capacitors, and disconnect switches.
- Familiarity with modern grid technologies including FACTS devices, energy storage systems, and advanced grid infrastructure.
- Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and substation design software is considered an asset.
