We are Systematix and we are currently looking for a highly experienced Senior Full-Stack Azure & AI Engineer to design and build enterprise-grade AI-enabled applications, integrations, and automation solutions for one of our key clients.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Our client is a global leader in science and technology with a complex enterprise technology environment supporting operations around the world. As part of an ongoing initiative to modernize business and technology processes, the organization is investing in intelligent automation, AI-enabled applications, enterprise integration, and modern cloud development.
The successful candidate will design and build solutions that integrate with critical enterprise platforms, automate complex business and compliance processes, and apply modern AI capabilities to enterprise use cases.
This is a senior, highly hands-on engineering role spanning the complete solution lifecycle. The successful candidate will work directly with business and technology stakeholders to understand current-state processes, design target-state solutions, and personally build, integrate, deploy, and support secure production applications.
We are looking for an engineer who combines strong full-stack development capabilities with deep Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Graph, enterprise integration, and modern AI application development experience.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, and deploy enterprise-grade AI-enabled applications, integrations, and automation solutions.
- Develop contemporary single-page applications using React and TypeScript.
- Build Microsoft Teams applications using Teams Toolkit, Teams JavaScript SDK, SSO, and On-Behalf-Of authentication patterns.
- Develop production backend services using .NET 8 and/or Node.js/TypeScript.
- Design and implement Backend-for-Frontend architectures, REST APIs, and containerized application services.
- Build production integrations with enterprise systems such as ServiceNow, Workday, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, SailPoint, Asana, Jira, and ServiceNow SPM.
- Design robust API integrations using REST, Microsoft Graph, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
- Implement enterprise integration patterns addressing pagination, rate limiting, retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and failure recovery.
- Develop AI-enabled applications using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, and related Azure AI technologies.
- Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions using enterprise data and content.
- Develop agentic AI solutions, structured output workflows, and human-in-the-loop review processes.
- Implement Responsible AI controls, prompt-injection defenses, auditability, and appropriate safeguards for enterprise AI applications.
- Develop document-processing solutions using Azure AI Services, including Document Intelligence, OCR, document extraction, Content Safety, and Prompt Shields.
- Build enterprise knowledge and retrieval solutions using Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Azure AI Search, vector search, metadata enrichment, and citation grounding.
- Develop server-side document generation and template-driven document assembly workflows for Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and other enterprise document formats.
- Use Open XML SDK, document templating, or comparable technologies to automate document creation.
- Design and deploy solutions using Azure Container Apps, Azure Functions, Front Door/WAF, Key Vault, Managed Identity, Private Endpoints, Application Insights, Azure SQL,
and related Azure services.
- Implement secure enterprise identity, authentication, authorization, and credential-management patterns.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, or comparable technologies.
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
- Implement automated testing, secure deployment practices, source control, peer review, and traceability from requirements through production deployment.
- Work with Azure SQL, Snowflake, and comparable enterprise data platforms using modern authentication approaches.
- Use AI-assisted software development tools appropriately while maintaining engineering standards, code quality, security, and automated test coverage.
- Design solutions that appropriately protect personal, identity, HR, compliance, and other sensitive enterprise data.
- Deliver applications and automation suitable for regulated, audited, and compliance-driven environments.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, controls, and evidence supporting security, privacy, SOX, governance, and audit requirements.
- Conduct discovery sessions directly with business and technology stakeholders.
- Document current-state processes and design practical target-state solutions.
- Recommend technical approaches and translate business requirements into solution designs and acceptance criteria.
- Identify additional opportunities to replace manual processes with scalable, secure, and maintainable technology solutions.
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of experience designing and building production enterprise applications, integrations, data pipelines, and automation solutions.
- Strong full-stack software engineering background with demonstrated delivery of production enterprise applications.
- Advanced React and TypeScript development experience.
- Strong backend development experience using .NET 8 and/or Node.js/TypeScript.
- Experience designing Backend-for-Frontend architectures, REST APIs, and containerized applications.
- Hands-on Microsoft Teams application development experience, including Teams Toolkit, Teams JavaScript SDK, SSO, and OBO authentication.
- Strong Microsoft Azure application architecture and development experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure Container Apps and other Azure application services.
- Strong enterprise API and integration engineering experience.
- Deep understanding of REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, OAuth, OpenID Connect, pagination, rate limiting, idempotency, retry, and reconciliation patterns.
- Experience integrating with enterprise systems of record such as ServiceNow, Workday, Active Directory/Entra ID, SailPoint, Asana, Jira, ServiceNow SPM, or comparable platforms.
- Hands-on experience developing AI-enabled enterprise applications using Azure OpenAI and/or Azure AI Foundry.
- Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation and enterprise knowledge retrieval solutions.
- Understanding of agentic AI patterns, structured outputs, human-in-the-loop workflows, Responsible AI, and AI application security.
- Experience with Azure AI Services such as Document Intelligence, Content Safety,
Prompt Shields, OCR, or document extraction.
- Strong Microsoft Graph experience, including permissions-aware access to SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and enterprise content repositories.
- Experience with Azure AI Search, vector search, metadata enrichment, and grounding AI-generated responses in authoritative enterprise content.
- Experience with Azure services including Key Vault, Managed Identity, Application Insights, Azure SQL, and secure networking capabilities.
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Bicep, Terraform, or comparable technologies.
- Strong CI/CD experience using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with automated testing, secure deployment pipelines, and disciplined software engineering practices.
- Experience with Azure SQL, Snowflake, or comparable enterprise data platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise identity, authentication, authorization, secure credential management, personal data protection, and secure coding practices.
- Ability to demonstrate how security, privacy, compliance, SOX, or governance requirements have been implemented, evidenced, and maintained within production solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced experience integrating with ServiceNow, Workday, Microsoft Entra ID, SailPoint, or other large enterprise platforms.
- Experience developing AI-enabled applications within complex global enterprise environments.
- Experience designing agentic AI solutions and multi-step AI-enabled workflows.
- Experience implementing enterprise RAG solutions using Microsoft 365 content and Azure AI Search.
- Experience with prompt-injection mitigation, AI Content Safety, Responsible AI controls, and auditable AI workflows.
- Experience developing enterprise document-processing and document-generation solutions.
- Experience with Open XML SDK, Word and PowerPoint generation, PDF generation, and template-driven document assembly.
- Experience with Front Door/WAF, Private Endpoints, and secure Azure enterprise networking patterns.
- Experience with SOX controls, IT compliance, governance, or automated evidence collection.
- Production experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or comparable technologies while maintaining strong engineering and testing standards.
ABOUT THE ROLE This is an initial 6-month contract opportunity, working remotely within Canada, with a strong likelihood of extension based on ongoing business requirements.
