As a Principal Geotechnical Engineer specializing in Dams , based on Vancouver Island or elsewhere in British Columbia, you will help deliver landmark dam projects that support resilient, thriving communities across British Columbia and the Yukon.
You will work closely with a highly skilled national geotechnical team, leading complex design work on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects in the region. Lead the business and technical growth of the dams practice locally, regionally, and nationally. Lead and support Dam Safety Reviews, Inspections, and dam modification projects.
Share technical expertise across geographic boundaries to elevate innovation and project delivery. Guide multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle, from early engagement through completion. Prepare and lead geotechnical studies and engineering reports that influence design outcomes.
Oversee geotechnical investigations, procurement processes, contractor evaluations, and project execution. Support field operations through leadership in geotechnical investigations, instrumentation, monitoring, construction reviews, and data collection programs. Serve as Project Manager or Project Director with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, client relationships, and team performance.
A degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
~ 15+ years of experience in geotechnical or geomechanics engineering, with a strong focus on dams. ~ Expertise with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, and related tools. ~ Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex geotechnical analyses and provide high‑quality technical direction. ~ A proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and with technical excellence. ~ Initiative, independence, and a passion for advancing the practice of geotechnical engineering.
