The School of Social Sciences & Humanities at Renison University College (affiliated with the University of Waterloo) invites applications for a part-time/sessional lecturer prospect in the Winter 2027 term.

The Social Sciences & Humanities is seeking an individual to teach the following course:

- PSYCH 312R Learning Disabilities
- Winter 2027 (January to April 2027)
- On campus.



Course schedule to be determined (two 80-minute classes per week, plus preparation, student support, and grading).

Compensation: The salary paid per term is $8910 plus vacation pay, based on qualifications and experience.

Course Description:

A critical examination of the concept of learning disability and of current issues in the assessment and remediation of learning problems.

Job duties include:

- Preparing and adhering to the approved academic course syllabus;
- Preparing and delivering weekly in-person classes;
- Using LEARN, the University of Waterloo’s online course-management system, to facilitate teaching and learning;
- Facilitating the achievement of the course learning objectives;
- Supporting students in critically analyzing and applying social work theories to practice situations;
- Developing, administering, and grading course assignments and other assessments;
- Providing timely and constructive feedback to students;
- Being available to meet with students outside scheduled class hours; and
- Submitting final grades in accordance with University and College deadlines.

Requirements:

- Applicants should have a PhD completed or in progress, or a Master’s degree plus significant experience as an educator, in Psychology or a closely related social science field.
- Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
