LaPrairie Crane, a member of the LaPrairie Group of Companies, is recruiting a full time Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join its growing mechanical maintenance team in Fort McMurray, AB. LAPRAIRIE Group of Companies , established in 1982 as a one-crane, two-man operation in Tumbler Ridge, BC, has grown into a successful group of companies employing over 600 local employees and offering full turnkey services within the mobile crane and rigging, heavy hauling, highway and bridge maintenance, frac sand mining, processing and distribution service sectors. LAPRAIRIE Crane, LAPRAIRIE Haul, LAPRAIRIE Works, LAPRAIRIE Oilfield, CAPSTAN Hauling, ENTREC, LAPRAIRIE Rock, and Canadian Silica Industries.

Inspecting cranes, trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance. Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment. Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles.





Driving to various job sites.

Journeyman Trade

Certification/Red Seal as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. ~ Valid Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) license. ~3+ years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or related role. ~ Must have a Class 5 driver’s license. ~ Proven work experience with diesel or heavy equipment. ~ Understanding of computer testing technologies. ~ Ability to lift heavy machinery. ~ Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment. ~ A successful applicant will have their own local accommodations in Fort McMurray and will be willing to work a 2 week on 2 week off shift. ~ A member of Local 955 in good standing is preferred.
