Pay: $20.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience and ability
We are a structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication company located in North York. We are looking for an experienced Steel Fabricator / Fitter-Welder to join our team.
This position is best suited for someone who can work independently in a fabrication shop and is comfortable reading drawings, laying out steel, fitting components, and welding.
Main Responsibilities:
- Read and understand structural steel shop drawings
- Layout, measure, cut, fit and assemble structural and miscellaneous steel
- Fabricate items such as beams, columns, frames, stairs, railings, supports and miscellaneous steel
- Perform MIG/FCAW/SMAW welding as required
- Use fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, mag drills and other shop tools
- Check dimensions and fit-up before welding
- Maintain good workmanship and accuracy
- Assist with site installation when required
- Work safely and keep the work area organized
What We Are Looking For:
- Previous structural steel fabrication experience
- Must be able to read shop drawings
- Must have fitting/layout experience — this is not a welding-only position
- Able to work independently with limited supervision
- Good measuring and fabrication skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working both in the shop and occasionally on job sites
- CWB welding certification is an asset
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are assets
We are particularly interested in someone who has worked as a steel fitter, fabricator, fitter-welder, or ironworker/fabricator. This is a hands-on position in a small fabrication shop. We are looking for someone who can contribute to the entire fabrication process rather than only perform production welding.
