New or Replacement Position: New Site: West Park Healthcare Centre Department: Respiratory Therapy Reports to: Manager, Program Services, Respiratory Therapy, Tuberculosis, Respiratory Evaluation Services, & Respiratory Clinics Shifts: 8 hours (Monday- Friday) Permanent Full Time Respiratory Therapistsat West Park Healthcare Centre provide respiratory therapy service 24/7 to patients throughout the Hospital. As the Charge Therapist you will be responsible to supervise staff and provide leadership to ensure operational safety and continuity. Coaching and mentoring assigned staff and students to foster a positive atmosphere that supports team building, collaboration and shared learning.

Performing administrative responsibilities to facilitate improving processes/procedures. Participating in professional development, teaching/educational activities, safety and quality improvement initiatives to ensure excellence in the provision of services. Observing, understanding and ensuring compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.





Adhering to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality. Attending intra and inter-hospital transports of patients. Acting as a resource for the nurses, residents and allied health personnel in respiratory/airway related care.

Participating in teaching patients, families, and caregivers the use of Respiratory Therapy equipment for both hospital and home care use. Performing diagnostic tests such as bedside spirometry, oxygen saturations, blood gas analysis, administering oxygen and other medical gas therapy. Being an integralmember of the healthcare team delivering respiratory care where required throughout West Park Healthcare Centre.

Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a health discipline required, Master's preferred. At minimum, completion of an Advanced Diploma from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Previous experience in leadership or supervisory role within Respiratory Therapy preferred.

Experience in maintaining high quality practice in the clinical environment. Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work. Knowledge of UHN and/or departmental policies.
