Duties
- Safely operate tow trucks and related equipment to recover, transport, and deliver vehicles in various conditions.
- Assist stranded drivers by providing roadside assistance including jump-starts, tire changes, and minor repairs when qualified.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and emergency responders to coordinate vehicle recovery operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of tow trucks and equipment to ensure safety standards are met and maintenance needs are addressed promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of all service calls, vehicle movements, and operational activities for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws during vehicle recovery operations to ensure personal safety and that of others.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor issues with vehicles or towing equipment when necessary.
Experience
- Proven experience operating commercial vehicles, especially tow trucks or similar heavy-duty equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting.
- Customer service skills that foster positive interactions with clients during stressful roadside situations.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean driving record; additional certifications such as forklift operation are a plus.
- Familiarity with automotive repair techniques and safety procedures related to vehicle recovery operations.
