Niagara On The Lake Long Term Care Residence How do you live in the moment?” Cook reports to Food Services Manager/ Food Services Supervisor and is expected todemonstrate commitment to resident safety by providing high-quality care in accordance with theorganization's vision and mission. We are hiring employees to work on a casual basis to help us fulfil our scheduling needs and fill vacant shifts as they arise. We are offering flexible hours.
Reports observations to Food Service Manager/Supervisor relating to resident care andothers (food preferences, likes & dislikes, intake) Ongoing delivery of customer service with staff, residents, families, and the public Ensuring an optimal quality of life for each resident by the delivery of individualizedresident care Report faulty equipment and ensure removal from unit Completion of documentation record of every shift (food temperature, freezer, fridge,sanitizer, dish machine, equipment checklist audit, cleaning checklists etc.) Follow Infection Prevention and Control and Safe Food Handling procedures Required to understand the nature and meaning of quality indicators used by the Homeand to understand which indicators are publicly reported. Preparation of high quality, nutritious meals according to the menu plan, and the requirements as per Ministry of Long-Term Care, Follows the cleaning procedures as established by the Food Services Manager Maintain inventory through the First in First Out process of food and supply products Works collaboratively with all Food Services workers and other departments Chef Training or culinary management diploma or certificate granted by a College ofApplied Arts and Technology or a private career college (preferred)
~ Or a certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cooked that was issuedby: ~(i) the Director of Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act,1998, ~(iii) the Registrar of Skilled Trades Ontario under the Building Opportunities in theSkilled Trades Act, 2021; (Or in the reasonable opinion of the Home, have appropriate skills, knowledge andexperience in the fields of institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality cooking toperform the duties required of this position Food Handlers Certification provided by Public Health or certified agencies Must understand proper preparation techniques and know how to use commercial kitchenequipment. Skilled experience involving the preparation of a variety of complex foods Ability to communicate both orally and in writing To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing howto turn a task into positive social interaction.
