Workshop Technician — Food Trailers | Fabrication | Fit-out (Christchurch)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Food Trailer Co. as a Part-Time Workshop Technician based in Belfast, Christchurch. You’ll play a key hands-on role supporting our day-to-day workshop operations — assisting with food trailer fit-outs, maintenance, and ensuring that every job is completed to a high standard, on time, and safely.

This is a part-time position (25–30 hours per week), with the chance to increase to full-time as the business continues to grow

What You’ll Be Doing

- Assist with trailer builds, repairs, and fit-outs
- Repairs, servicing and maintenance of food trailers
- Installing commercial kitchen equipment and accessories
- Perform general workshop maintenance and assembly tasks
- Support the team with daily operations and quality control
- Ensure safe, clean, and efficient workshop practices
- Assist with stock management, tools, and materials organisation
- Collaborate with the wider team to meet deadlines and production goals

What we’re looking for:

- 2-3+ years in a workshop/or fabricator role (coachbuilding, shop-fit, automotive, trailers or similar)




- Automotive/mechanic background strongly preferred— comfortable with trailer running gear, preparing units for WOF
- Solid skills in fabrication/assembly, joinery/fit-out, hardware, sealants and knowledge in plumbing and electrics
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers and team members
- Proficient in the use of workshop tools, equipment and diagnostic software
- Full NZ work rights and full driver licence.
