Position Summary:

GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance is seeking experienced Hydraulic Shovel Operators to join our team at an open-pit coal mining operation in Tumbler Ridge, BC. The successful candidates will have experience operating large hydraulic mining shovels and will be responsible for safely and efficiently loading haul trucks with coal and waste material.

Responsibilities:

- Safely and efficiently operate large hydraulic mining shovels in an open-pit mining workplace.
- Load haul trucks with coal and waste material while maintaining efficient cycle times.
- Maintain proper shovel positioning and digging techniques.
- Manage dig faces and working areas to support safe and efficient production.
- Monitor material conditions and maintain awareness of changing ground conditions.
- Conduct thorough pre-operational inspections and report equipment deficiencies.
- Work closely with haul truck operators, dispatch, supervisors, and other mine personnel.
- Follow established loading procedures, traffic management plans, and site safety requirements.
- Maintain consistent production while minimizing equipment wear and unnecessary downtime.
- Complete required inspections, reports, and operational documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized operating area.
- Support other mining activities as directed by site supervision.

Qualifications

- 2+ years’ experience operating equipment such as: Komatsu PC2000, Komatsu PC4000,



Komatsu PC7000, Hitachi EX3600, Hitachi EX5500, Hitachi EX5600, Hitachi EX8000, or equivalent large hydraulic mining shovel.
- Strong understanding of open-pit mining safety and production practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based mining environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe, efficient, and productive equipment operation.
- Valid driver's license and required site qualifications/certifications as applicable.

Compensation: $45 - $55 per hour with accommodations and travel pay provided where applicable.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off with 12-hour rotating day and night shifts.
