Actively filling a Shop Foreman position in Sundre, Alberta. This role leads the service shop floor, managing technicians, coordinating work orders, and providing hands-on technical guidance on Class 8 commercial trucks and trailers. The position reports directly to the owner and serves as a bridge between administrative operations and shop-floor execution. Work environment is family-oriented, quality-focused, and emphasizes mutual respect and problem-solving over high-pressure metrics.
Requirements
Must-haves:
Journeyperson Truck and Trailer License
Minimum 58 years of heavy-duty truck/trailer experience
Minimum 2 years as lead hand or shop foreman
Engine diagnostics experience (Cummins systems, Gel Test)
Valid Class 3 or Class 1 driver's license (insurable)
Class 8 CVIP inspection certification
Leadership and mentoring capability
Ability to diagnose issues, perform triage, and coordinate technician workflow
Nice-to-haves:
Class 1 driver's license
Experience with Cummins Insight or similar diagnostic software
Familiarity with transmission, clutch, differential, and brake system repairs
DEF system and top-end engine work experience
Family-oriented background extracurricular interests (camping, hunting, fishing, etc.)
Long-term commitment mindset
Compensation & Benefits
Wage: $50/hour base (negotiable for qualified candidates)
Overtime: After 42.5 hours per week or over 8.5-hour days straight time after 44 hours weekly
Health & Life Insurance: Begins after 3 months (exceptions possible) company covers 75%, employee 25%
Boot Allowance: $250 every two years (adjustable)
Vacation: Versatile starting at 2 weeks, negotiable to 34 weeks for experienced hires
Additional: Clean coveralls daily parts at cost-plus 10% shop access for personal use Christmas party with bonus draw discretionary annual bonuses
Hours
Schedule: MondayFriday, 7am4pm (8.5-hour days, 0.5-hour lunch = 42.5-hour week)
Shifts: Two rotating shifts foreman schedule remains consistent
Flexibility: Start/end times negotiable based on personal needs
Saturday: Shop open 7am4pm no requirement for foreman Saturday work but may need to come in on occasion
On-Call: No formal after-hours on-call informal text availability for technician troubleshooting (optional)
Overtime: Minimal expected workload adjusted flexibly by management
Work Environment: Primarily shop-based 5-ton overhead crane, 7 bays, full parts department, welding capabilities
