The Recreation Department is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated leader to be a part of our team temporarily as an Auxiliary Recreation Leader I.
The Recreation Leader I will assist the Recreation Coordinator and the Recreation Leader II from the Preschool area with the implementation of programs and camps. Responsibilities will include participating in the planning and implementation of programs, purchasing supplies, scheduling substitute instructors (or leading the class if necessary), and dealing with parent concerns. This position will provide instruction and coaching to program instructors while ensuring the safety of participants.
This position is for weekend shifts only. Hours of work will be from 8:00AM to 1:00 PM during registered programming times.
Basic Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 education;
- Minimum 6 months of related post-secondary courses in recreation;
- ECE or ECEA certificate (completed or in progress) and/or a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience working with children ages 5 years and under;
- Experience coaching or instructing children;
- Solid team building, leadership and communication skills;
- Good organizational skills;
- Proficiency with computers (preferably experience with MS Office);
- Supervisory experience would be an asset;
- Experience with the Perfect Mind registration and facility booking software would be an asset;
- A valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle; and
- Valid standard First Aid with CPR -C and AED.
