We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Casual Bookkeeper to manage the financial records for rental properties in Halifax. This role offers flexibility and an opportunity to contribute to the smooth financial operations of property management. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for accounting, strong organizational skills, and experience with various accounting software to ensure accurate bookkeeping and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all rental income, expenses, and transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
- Ideally be able to generate T forms but this is not a requirement
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify account accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Conduct account analysis to monitor financial health and prepare reports as needed
- Reconcile accounts for tax purposes
- Reconcile income and expenses for tax purposes
Qualifications
- Proven experience with bookkeeping, accounting in property management or real estate environments
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks,
Sage, or Xero is essential
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
- Knowledge of payroll processing and related regulations is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a flexible, casual setting
