Our client in Sudbury, ON is seeking a hands-on Lean Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement initiatives across its manufacturing operations.

This role will focus on improving productivity, quality, safety, delivery, and cost through the application of Lean Manufacturing principles. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to identify and eliminate waste, improve manufacturing processes, optimize workflows, and deliver measurable results.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who is comfortable working directly on the shop floor and using data to identify opportunities and measure improvements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and implement Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, cycle times, and production data to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify and eliminate the 8 wastes of Lean Manufacturing.
- Develop and implement standardized work instructions, process documentation, and visual management systems.
- Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing, and process mapping.
- Lead 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and other Lean initiatives.
- Improve manufacturing layouts, material flow, workstations, and production processes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, setup time, labor costs, and material consumption.
- Develop and track KPIs related to productivity, efficiency, quality, delivery, and cost.




- Work closely with Production Supervisors and operators to implement process improvements and ensure improvements are sustained over time.
- Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective action activities using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and A3 problem solving.
- Support the introduction of new products and manufacturing processes while considering Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Evaluate tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automation opportunities to improve productivity and safety.
- Work with Engineering and Production teams to improve manufacturability and production capacity.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives and provide data-driven recommendations to management.
- Train employees and supervisors on Lean principles and Continuous Improvement practices.
- Monitor implemented improvements to ensure results are sustained.
- Maintain accurate records of improvement projects, including baseline performance, actions implemented, savings, and measurable results.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3–7+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement.




- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Experience with 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Root Cause Analysis, and Continuous Improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead improvement initiatives and deliver measurable results.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and develop actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and manufacturing and/or ERP systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both management and shop-floor personnel.
- Hands-on approach with the ability to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor.

Preferred Qualifications

- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience in automotive, mining, heavy equipment, industrial manufacturing, or related industries.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and OEE improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with ISO quality management systems.

Location: Sudbury, ON
Relocation: Candidates open to relocating to Sudbury will be considered.

Pay: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
