Position Overview

We are seeking a Dietary Aide to join our Food Services team. Under the direction of the Coordinator of Food Services, the Dietary Aide will assist with preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining environment, and ensuring high-quality food service for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

Before Meal Service

- Review the daily menu and any special dietary requirements.
- Prepare the dining room, including tables, utensils, napkins, and beverages.
- Ensure all serving equipment is clean and sanitized.
- Verify that food has reached the required serving temperature.
- Double-check meat temperatures before serving.

During Meal Service

- Greet the Sisters in a friendly and respectful manner.
- Serve meals according to the menu and individual dietary requirements.
- Offer beverages, condiments, and additional items as needed.
- Monitor food quality, temperature, and presentation throughout service.
- Respond promptly to requests and provide courteous assistance.

Food Safety

- Wash hands frequently and follow proper hygiene procedures.
- Use clean serving utensils and replace them as required.
- Prevent cross-contamination between foods.
- Report any food safety concerns immediately.
- Record food temperatures according to department procedures.

After Meal Service





- Clear tables and collect dishes promptly.
- Wash, sanitize, dry, and polish all dishes, mugs, glasses, and utensils.
- Ensure all cleaned items are inspected before being stored.
- Clean and sanitize serving areas, carts, and workstations.
- Clean and sanitize the cookware in the kitchen
- Sweep and mop floors, ensuring they are clean and not slippery.
- Dispose of garbage and recycling properly.

End-of-Shift Responsibilities

- Complete the End-of-Shift Daily Checklist.
- Report equipment problems or maintenance issues.
- Restock supplies for the next meal service.
- Secure food storage areas and ensure refrigerators are operating properly.
- Leave the work area clean, organized, and ready for the next shift.

Service Standards

- Treat every Sister with dignity, respect, and kindness.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and co-workers.
- Follow all Food Services policies and Health Department regulations.
- Work together as one team to provide protected, healthy, and exceptional service to the Sisters.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of related food service experience preferred.
- Understanding of food allergies and modified diets.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and operate cleaning equipment safely.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
